Individual Twitter Narrative Summary

  1. What surprised you about your narrative? How did you adapt?
Actually, when we first come up with the frame of our twitter narrative, I thought many people would get involved in this story and propel the conflicts. But the fact is, no one seems interested in our story. So in order to solve this problem, we had to add conflicts by our own group members. Such as one of our group members will add some comments that attack one of the characters in the twitter narrative, thus we were able to continue the story.

  1. Identify the points you are most proud of.
The most proud part of our twitter narrative is that our company account has gotten more than 1000 followers because the effort of our members. Though not a very effective idea, our group devoted to following others all the time in order the get the attention of them. Our group also tweet the advertisement of our products to create the credibility and gain the attentions of some people who are also in the area of cosmetics. Because of the time differences, our group members, Shalyn and Cheryl have to stay very late till the time when the westerners are active in twitter.

  1. What form of media was most useful?
I think Twitter is most useful. Though I’m not that much enjoy it, I have to admit it has lots of functions. First, you can follow everyone based on your interests and know what’s going on with her/him. Also, you can share your thoughts and discuss the current issues with other people, who maybe you are strange with, in the comment box. There are a mass with information that you can search for and collect, and you’ll learnt a lot in all kinds of fields because there is little register limits to the users and every is accessible to it.

  1. What form of media did you enjoy the most?
The vlog is most enjoyable for me. Actually the edit job by our member Leon is done very well. Though the conversation and the performance are not interesting at first, it can be very amusing and entertaining after edited. Actually, our members are amused by the edited version of the Vlog.

  1. Least useful?
I think maybe Blog is least useful. Though, I enjoy a lot with blog because it collects all my thoughts, ideas, and feeling, its functions are so limited. Actually I don’t know what else I can do with blog in addition to presenting my works. Also, its sharing function is not as powerful as twitter, and it’s more like a private space rather than a public one.

  1. Least enjoyable?
I think twitter is least enjoyable. First, the words are limited in the twitter, so it is very inconvenient and has a lot of limits when you want to express something. Also, though, twitter is a platform where you can share your thoughts or other things with all different kinds of people, it’s hard to bring their attention cause there is a mass of information all the time. When I do our twitter narrative project, actually, if only I follow others, or it’s hard to get the attentions of others. Maybe, I’ve learnt much about twitter, but from my experience, I’m not that into it.

  1. Identify the points you would change and what you would do differently.
The points I want to change is the twitter narrative part. In twitter narrative, I act as current girlfriend of Cherry’s ex-boyfriend. Cherry is the founder of the CherryBlossm boutique. At the beginning, we want to show the inspiring aspect of Cherry and build a very encouraging image of her, so I should behave badly to set her spirits off to advantage. However, I haven’t fully shown my identity in the conversation with her. So if given a chance, I would change it.

How to use vlog in our narrative story?

Vlog can be used as a tool to attract certain audience with exaggerating performance and amusing actions. In our project, we can combine our narrative story with our cosmetic products to produce an effect where audience can learn more about how the story goes on along with the appearance of the cosmetic boutique. Maybe we can film a girl who constantly complains about how heartbroken she was after his boyfriend’s treachery, and this boutique can be a faith for her to change herself not only on the surface but also inside to let her boyfriend regret. This can reveal a theme of our company that cosmetic not only make you looks beautiful but also stronger inside.

       Heracles and Gandhi
When asked about hero, the first thing that always flashes into our minds is the athletic figures with super power, helping people fight against scary enemies and brings them with peaceful life environment. Of course, different people hold different concept and standard in their mind to define and judge a hero. In fact, there are thousands of heroes in this world that have contributed a lot to the development of the human society. Most of them have their own characteristics and personalities to be easily distinguished by us. However, there are many similarities among the characteristics of different hero as well, which counts a lot to the generation of every single hero.
From ancient time to modern, the heroes emerges all the time, especially when there is a big catastrophe among the human society, to serve as the representative of power to fight against evil or the leader of spirit to guide us to the right direction. Among these heroes, two heroes had left me with a great impression; one is Heracles, the greatest character in Greek mythology, and the other is the modern spiritual leader Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Their existence has the changed their whole world.
When it comes to their figures, it seems that they are completely different from each other. Heracles, the son of Zeus and Alcmene, is regarded as the strongest of the Greek heroes with big muscles around his body. He owned the extraordinary strength and the perfect masculinity, which helped him to overcome the challenges and achieve success. His masculinity was also considered as the personality that should be had as a true man. On the contrast, Gandhi had a really skinny body, scrawny hands and a gaunt face full of smile, which was the result of his fast for his resistant to the oppression of the British government. He was not a typical hero-like person even a bit weak with little energy. However, what he looks like outside does not amount to his inner power. Different from his skinny appearance, Gandhi was no longer weak but full of energy to fight for his people.
Gandhi was devoted to saving people out of bad situation and influenced the whole world through his advanced and people oriented thoughts rather than physical battle with his enemies. He fought for human’s rights, wanted to make an equal world without discrimination, a world regardless of race, gender and nationality. He tried to influence the world using the most moderate way instead of the intense war among countries. He advocated “non-violence, non-cooperation” to show his determination to be against the battle. As for Heracles, instead of using his thoughts to influence others, he preferred to take advantages of his physical strength. Most of his achievements were the results mostly attributed to his athletic body and extraordinary power. During the age when the human culture was low developed, the physical power was deemed as the most important factor to defeat everything. And with his power, he was able to accomplish the hard 12 labors.
If we know their background, it seems that these two figures are completely from two different worlds, living in the different ages with different cultures and values. However, in my opinion, though these two people seems has nothing in common towards their physical appearance, while one is strong with a great strength and power, the other is just a thin and weak old man, they have many similarities towards the realm of spirit, their experiences and achievements.
One of the most important characteristics shared by these two heroes is selflessness: they both had contributed to the happiness of the public people without the intention of being rewarded. These two people, from different time and space, demonstrated to us that only the selflessness that can receive the longest love and respect from people. And Heracles and Ganhi are two typical representatives to hold this precious merit. Heracles always fought for justice. He was voluntary to help many people out of plight without asking for reward. He gave a hand to Prometheus and shot and killed the eagles tortured Prometheus when Prometheus was punished by Zeus for his stealing fire for the human beings. As for Gandhi, he was famous for his lifelong devotion for seeking for rights for human being. He was able to lead a wealthy life initially if he chose to live as a normal peopleHowever, he occupied himself in a world together with those who were miserable and hard. He fasted to resist the oppression; he was imprisoned for many years for his not obeying the rules from the powerful country. Both of Heracles and Gandhi had done a lot as well as suffered a lot for the people and the land. They are selfless, and they are loved by most people.
A hero always holds an extraordinary willpower. Only if a person has the determination upon doing something that he/she can overcome the most difficult obstacles, pass the darkest road by their own. So, the second character shared by both heroes is the willpower. Both Gandhi and Heracles had met with many difficulties in their life. As we know, Heracles had accomplished 12 labors assigned by his brother Eurystheus. He fought with unknown and scary creatures all the time without being afraid. He never quitted even though he knew the danger was approaching, but insisted in his own decision all the time. When he initially was visited by two nymphs and offered with the choice between a pleasant and easy life or a severe but glorious life; Heracles chose the latter one. Of course, his latter experience in his life has showed to us that he exactly led a hard and challenging life. Why did he choose a harder life rather than an easy one? I think that’s because of his determination, and the same with Gandhi. Gandhi chose to fight for the rights for his people. After his career as a lawyer, he spent two decades in South Africa to develop his political and ethics leadership skills, and he led his nation to fight for independence and freedom using the skills he learnt, from which we can know he had already designed his own life when he was very young and he spent a lot of time to maintain his goal. Both of them had already chose their own life before they were exposed with the danger of the real and cruel world, and they stuck to their beliefs and destination with the determination.
In terms of their achievements, both of them had made the world safe for mankind regardless their ways. No pain, no gain. It’s is always the truth that is fit for every person, so do heroes. So in order to make a great achievement both of them had suffered a lot and been challenged a lot with the outside force. As we know Gandhi was the leader of Indian nationalist movement against British rule, and is also widely considered the father of India. He had devoted almost all his life to offering all of the people a peaceful world. He led his country gain dependence and break away from the oppression of the British Government. He is called “father” of India. But his influence is not only limited in his own country, India, but spread to the whole world. His spirits and success had inspired the movements for civil rights and freedom across the world, especially in colonial countries. Heracles, likewise, had great influence for others, such as Theseus, who set especially as a model and learn from him and them also became a great hero. Both of them are the spirit leader for the later generation to make a difference to the world.
Heroes are not those trying to pursue glories, money or names, but those who focus on saving the people and bringing them with happiness, just like what Heracles and Gandhi had done. Though, they are different from each other in most aspects, we can also find many similarities shared by both people, more concisely by most heroes. Heroes encourage the later generations all the time through their eternal spirits, which just like a light enlightening the dark and unknown road that we had never explored before. Heroes are worshiped by people as they contribute a lot for them. They make miracles and control their own life. Heroes are not only those born in the royal family, those with super power, but also those with great thought, use the spirits to impress others. In my opinion, everyone can be a hero if you quit the desire of glories, money and name but care about others, think for others, and love others.

How can add different kinds of media to create layered narrative.

To add different kinds of media to create layered narrative in our twitter narrative can help make our story more convincible. We can use many medias in our narrative.
Since our company's narrative story is about a girl who was heartbroken after knowing her boyfriends had affairs with another gir and broke up with himl, we can use some dark and emotional images to give a visual feeling of how sad the girl is.Also, we can also add some audio, such as some blue music and some sad words to show her sorrow. After she broken up with his boyfriend, she devoted to making her more beautiful and get to our fake company, so the pictures of the make ups can also help convince the audience that what she engages in. Since she works in a comestic company, it's also very persuasive is we upload some video about the make ups on her twitter page.

Entry 10

This blog shows that there is little relationship between following more people and you will be followed by more people. Sometimes, how many people  following you depends on the quality of the tweets you have published. That is to say, if your tweets are meet with the interests of some twitter users , then you maybe follow you. However, this is not always the case, sometimes, how many followers you have are based on how famous you are. It's can be a very interesting phenomenon that some famous people only have one tweet on their page but with a bunch of followers, more interesting is that there might be thousands of comments under this tweet and most of the words have nothing to do with the tweets. In addtion, it's common for twitter users to come across the followers that have no relationship with you, and many of them just want you to follow back and if you do not, they will unfollow in some days. Also, some just use twitter as a platform to advertise their products.
